Open Water Swimming Safety Guide
Open water swimming has both physical and mental health benefits for us all. Many people describe the feeling of intense satisfaction after plunging into cold water. It leaves the body tingling all over and helps clear the mind of worries and anxieties.
Year-round swimmers are adamant that the sea has the potential to alleviate the effects of a number of physical ailments including arthritis, chronic pain and lots more. But before you dive in, here’s the know-how you need to stay safe.

Our buoys increase safety by making it easier for participants to stay on track and avoid swimming towards dangerous waters or losing their way.
Buoys can be personalised.
Open water courses vary. Normally 6-8 large buoys and 2 small buoys for the goal lanes are used.

Marker Buoys
Aqualine has a range of open water marker buoys from permanent buoys to inflatable buoys for events.
The permanent buoys can be put in place in bathing areas to warn off small crafts and allow swimmers to swim safely within the designated bathing area.

Finishing Lines
The Open Water Marathon finishing lines are made to highlight the 50 final meters at open water competitions. These lines are made with 100mm material and with a snap hook at each end.
Custom lengths and/or custom colour combinations are available using red, blue, green, yellow, white, orange and black material. These are the Official FINA finishing lines for the Open Water Marathon race and are used at most competitions worldwide.

Personal Equipment
Swim Robes
Prefect to keep you warm before and after a swim. Waterproof outer shell, fleece lined to keep you warm, fleece lined hood, zipper pockets and internal pockets.
Swim robes can be customised with club logos or club colours – contact us for more information.
Tow Float
Inflatable tow float, with a built-in dry bag to store your valuables while swimming. Bright orange for good visibility while swimming in open water.
Stay safe be seen when swimming, doubles up as a secure dry bag.
